Saatchi Gallery introduces Vision & Virtuosity
Summers in London can be cloudy at times. If you find yourself missing the blue skies, a certain shade is available at Saatchi Gallery from June 10th to August 19th : that is, Tiffany & Co’s Vision and Virtuosity exhibition, celebrating the jeweller’s 150 years’ worth of British heritage.
“Each of the exhibition’s seven chapters will explore separate themes that are central to Tiffany’s brand identity, heritage, and creative influence”, reads the gallery’s statement to the press, “Upon entering Saatchi Gallery, guests will explore founder Charles Lewis Tiffany’s legacy and, in the subsequent sections, experience the works of some of the House’s most creative forces such as Jean Schlumberger and Elsa Peretti. The third chapter is devoted to the annual Blue Book high jewellery collection, while the fourth room is centred on Tiffany’s heritage in the world of love and commitment, having introduced the iconic Tiffany® Setting engagement ring in 1886” (cries in single and broke).
Of course, the exhibit will pay homage to the brand’s most prominent cultural moment – Trey’s proposal to Charlotte in front of Tiffany & Co. boutique in Sex and the City. Okay-okay, kidding - of course, it’s Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, a charming novella-turned-cinema-classic starring the impeccable Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. Visitors will get to see the original movie script and the immortal little black dress by Hubert de Givenchy. The final space will be dedicated to the living legend of Tiffany’s – the famed 128-carat yellow diamond, previously worn by Lady Gaga and most recently spotted on Gal Gadot in “Murder on the Nile” 2022 film.
Overall, Vision and Virtuosity will present over 400 precious objects from Tiffany & Co.’s archives. Another pleasant surprise: the dedicated exhibition catalogue boasts a foreword by the late Andre Leon Talley. If your eyes are also starving for beauty, Saatchi Gallery is the place to be.
